Business Readiness for Customer-Facing AI

Can we deliver what AI promises?

An AI experience is ready when the business can support the commitments it makes and the exceptions it creates. Product, technology, sales and service need an agreed owner for the customer outcome, with authority to resolve conflicts. Launch readiness includes the rules, information and operating capacity behind the interaction.

Ownership(01)

Local readiness can leave the journey unowned.

Each function can meet its own launch requirements while a customer problem remains unresolved between them. Product approves the offer, technology enables the interaction and service prepares to receive contacts. Someone still needs authority over what happens when those parts disagree.

AI can reproduce an existing policy conflict across more interactions. Leadership needs to resolve the competing priorities before the customer has to deal with their consequences. The person accountable for the experience needs a defined role in the decisions that create it.

Delivery(02)

Trace the customer commitment through the business.

An AI recommendation can depend on approved pricing, current product information and the ability to fulfill the offer. An account change can depend on policy and another team’s operating capacity. Those conditions belong in the launch decision, alongside the quality of the interaction.

A narrower initial experience may be the responsible choice when the business cannot yet support the full promise. Decide which commitments are ready, who owns the exceptions and what needs to change before expanding.

Accountability(03)

Keep an owner inside the customer relationship.

A vendor can supply the AI and take responsibility for agreed technical work. Your business still needs someone who can explain an outcome to the customer, authorize a correction and decide when the experience should be paused. That authority must be usable by the people dealing with the consequences.
